The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested a popular TikTok content creator, Namadina Tudunwada, over allegations that he promoted fornication through a video shared on his social media account.
The arrest was confirmed on Monday by the board’s Deputy Commander-General, Mujahid Aminuddeen, who said officials in Tudunwada Local Government Area apprehended the content creator after one of his videos sparked public concern.
According to the Hisbah Board, Namadina allegedly compared the financial cost of marriage with that of engaging in illicit sexual relationships. In the viral video, he reportedly claimed that fornication could cost about ₦2,000, while marriage might require as much as ₦200,000, a comparison the board believes could discourage young people from embracing marriage.
Hisbah accused the TikToker of promoting immoral behaviour by portraying fornication as a cheaper and more convenient alternative to marriage, warning that such content could negatively influence the youth.
“The suspect was arrested after making statements capable of misleading young people and promoting immoral behaviour,” the board stated.

Aminuddeen said a full investigation is underway and assured that appropriate legal action would be taken based on the outcome of the inquiry.
The board also issued a warning to social media influencers and content creators, urging them to avoid publishing materials that encourage immorality or contradict the moral and religious values of society.
Hisbah stressed that online content carries significant influence and should be created and shared with a sense of moral and social responsibility.
