Cynthia Salawu
At 43, Cynthia Salawu is carving her niche as a fast-rising Nigerian actress and skit maker. Yet, amid her career achievements, the talented diva finds herself yearning for a personal milestone—marriage.
In a recent interview with Saturday Sun, Cynthia disclosed that while she has dated younger men in the past, marriage with one is out of the question.
“I prefer someone older as a husband because I want to be pampered by a man. I am always older than my boyfriends. They don’t mind my age, but I feel that’s why I’m still single. Now, I want a mature man from 40 years upwards.”
Fully single and ready for marriage, the actress noted that she’s no longer interested in casual dating.
“If it’s not leading to marriage, I’m not interested in dating anyone,” she declared.
Like many women approaching their mid-40s, Cynthia faces family pressure—not necessarily to marry but to have children.
“They no longer pressure me like before, now they just want me to have a baby instead because of time. I don’t want to be a single mother, but my mum keeps saying that she wants to carry my kids. I’ll be 44 next year in June. That’s why she is worried.”
As a professional, Cynthia remains selective about the roles she takes on, prioritizing decency and personal comfort over popularity.
“I always turn down sexual roles. Even kissing and smooching—I won’t accept. I believe in decency. I haven’t experienced any sexual harassment in the industry. I think it is also because of the age difference between me and other male content creators. So, they respect me a lot. They see me as their big aunty.
