The Abia State Police Command has denied reports that human hair was found inside a fetish pot recovered from the home of an arrested barber in the state.
The suspect, identified simply as Emeka, was arrested after police received a petition alleging a threat to life. During a search of his residence, officers recovered a native pot, carved images, and other items believed to be linked to traditional worship.
Speaking on the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, clarified that no shaved human hair was discovered inside the recovered pot, contrary to reports circulating online.
She explained that when questioned, Emeka said the carved images represented his ancestors and that he practises traditional religion. According to her, the suspect described the figures as symbols of the ancestors he worships.

DSP Chinaka urged members of the public to ignore claims that human hair was found during the search, stressing that such reports were false and misleading.
She added that the police investigation into the case is still ongoing and assured the public that verified information would be released as the probe progresses.
The police spokesperson also criticised the spread of unverified reports, saying some content creators and bloggers publish sensational claims to attract attention and gain followers.
