A tragic hit-and-run accident has claimed the life of a senior police officer, Dr. Ikechukwu Obodo, in Enugu State.
The Enugu State Police Command confirmed the incident on Tuesday, describing it as a fatal motor-pedestrian accident involving an unidentified driver who fled the scene.
Dr. Obodo, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) holder from Nkpologu community in Enugu State, was attached to the Operations Department at the State Police Command Headquarters before his untimely death.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed the development in an official statement issued in Enugu.
He clarified that the statement became necessary following misleading reports circulating on social media, which falsely alleged that the deceased officer was killed by a police convoy.
