Gunmen have attacked, shot and abducted the in-law of a former Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Tony Onyima, along Ugwunwasike Road in Ogbunike.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday along the road leading to the building materials market.
Onyima said six heavily armed men carrying AK-47 rifles attacked his in-law and abducted him during the incident.
He said the victim sustained a gunshot injury but managed to escape from the kidnappers.
According to him, the attackers fled with the victim’s Lexus 350 vehicle after the attack.

The victim was later taken to a hospital, where he was receiving treatment for the gunshot wound.
Onyima disclosed the incident in a statement titled “While We Bicker,” shared on Thursday, expressing concern over the growing insecurity in parts of Anambra State.
He said criminal activities were continuing in the state despite ongoing political activities and debates.
It was not immediately clear whether the police had arrested any suspect or recovered the stolen Lexus vehicle.
