A 16-year-old boy, identified as Favour Ayogu, has been rescued after he was allegedly kidnapped in Igboeze South Local Government Area of Enugu State and later abandoned near a security checkpoint in Onitsha, Anambra State.
According to the Anambra State Police Command, the boy was found on the evening of September 13, 2026, at Ekene Junction along Oguta Road, Onitsha.
Police said the suspected abductors allegedly dropped the teenager from a black Toyota Highlander SUV close to the security checkpoint before fleeing the area.
A joint security patrol team reportedly responded swiftly and rescued the boy, preventing further harm.

The police command, through its spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said intensified surveillance and intelligence-led operations were ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspected members of the criminal gang behind the incident.
The command also appealed to residents, particularly those from Igboeze South and Ibagwa-Aka in Enugu State, who may have information about the boy or his family to contact the nearest police station or the Anambra State Police Command.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction, including whether a ransom was demanded and how long the boy was held, remain unclear.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Nnanna Oji Ama, commended the security personnel for their vigilance and urged them to sustain coordinated patrols and strategic checkpoints across the state.
