In a statement issued by the association’s National Publicity Secretary, Rwang Tengwong, the group said the latest incident reflects the persistent insecurity affecting the area. It noted that residents of Gyel and neighbouring communities in Bassa Local Government Area have repeatedly complained about attacks allegedly carried out by armed groups operating around the Gyero and Rafin Buna axis.
According to the association, the recurring violence has led to the loss of lives, forced many residents to flee their homes, and disrupted economic activities, including mining operations.
The association urged security agencies and government authorities to intensify efforts to dismantle criminal hideouts, apprehend those responsible for the attacks, and implement measures to restore peace and security across the affected communities in Plateau State.
