At least 20 people have been killed in an attack by suspected bandits on Fesken Rafi community in Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State, renewing concerns over worsening insecurity in the region.
The Kebbi State Government expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as tragic and extending condolences to the families of the victims and residents of the affected community.
On Saturday, Deputy Governor Umar Tafida led a government delegation on a condolence visit, where he assured residents of the administration’s commitment to strengthening security and protecting lives and property across the state.

They commended Governor Nasir Idris for his efforts to address insecurity and for the government’s response to affected communities.
Traditional leaders, including representatives of the Emir of Argungu and the District Head of Bui, also praised the government’s intervention. They called for the construction of a road linking Fesken Rafi to the main highway, saying improved access would enhance security response, support economic activity, and improve living conditions.
The attack underscores ongoing security challenges in rural parts of Kebbi State, despite continued efforts by authorities to curb banditry and related violence.
