Four people were killed and a soldier was reported missing after suspected bandits attacked Tudun Bicci community in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The attack reportedly occurred when armed men invaded farmlands in the area, triggering a gun battle with security personnel and local forest guards who responded to the incident.
The Chairman of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, Hussaini Aliyu Bena, confirmed the attack, stating that the victims were two forest guards and two civilians. He clarified that contrary to earlier reports, no soldier was killed during the encounter, although one military personnel remains missing.
Bena said security operatives and local guards fought back during the attack, killing several of the assailants, while others escaped into nearby forests with gunshot wounds.
He noted that the Kebbi State Government, in collaboration with security agencies and the local government, had stepped up efforts to tackle the recurring attacks and kidnappings in the area.
According to the council chairman, the persistent insecurity in Danko/Wasagu is linked to the activities of armed groups operating from forest hideouts in neighbouring Zamfara and Niger states.

Danko/Wasagu is among the local government areas in Kebbi frequently affected by bandit attacks, kidnappings, cattle rustling and assaults on farming communities.
The latest incident adds to growing concerns over insecurity in the region, with authorities continuing efforts to strengthen security operations.
