Ex Minister Of Power Bayou Adelabu
The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four suspected kidnappers and the killing of two others during a coordinated rescue operation that led to the safe recovery of the sister of former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, and her two children.
The victims, identified as Busola (also known as Busayo Adegoke John-Paul) and her 12-year-old twin sons, were abducted in the early hours of Wednesday in the Elewura-Challenge area of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area.
According to the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Oluwagbemiga Abimbola, the breakthrough came following actionable intelligence received by the command.
Acting on the tip-off, security operatives launched a late-night operation on Saturday at a hideout located in the Ayegun area of Oluyole Local Government Area.
“The police acted on credible intelligence, which led to the successful rescue of the victims,” the commissioner stated while addressing journalists at the scene.
The operation, which lasted several hours, involved a fierce gun battle between the operatives and the suspected kidnappers.

Two of the suspects were neutralised during the exchange of fire, while four others were apprehended. Some members of the gang reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.
The victims were found in a three-bedroom bungalow where they had been held captive. Authorities also recovered firearms from the scene, including a pump-action rifle.
Sources revealed that the kidnappers had trailed the victims’ vehicle before intercepting them around 7:30 a.m. on the day of the abduction.
The police have assured residents that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network behind the abduction.
This successful operation adds to ongoing security efforts in Oyo State aimed at curbing kidnapping and violent crimes.
