
No fewer than five persons have lost their lives following 30 fire outbreaks recorded across Kano State in June, according to the Kano State Fire Service.
The agency disclosed that properties worth over ₦120.4 million were destroyed in the incidents, while assets valued at approximately ₦481.8 million were successfully salvaged through timely intervention.
This was contained in the service’s June operational report released by its Public Relations Officer, Saminu Abdullahi.
The report further revealed that the Fire Service responded to seven rescue operations and recorded one false alarm during the period under review.
It added that three individuals were rescued from various emergency situations.

Speaking on the development, the Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, urged residents to exercise caution in handling fire to prevent avoidable disasters.
“We urge members of the public to be vigilant when using fire and ensure all sources are completely extinguished after use,” he said.
Anas also called on parents and guardians to closely monitor their children, particularly around water bodies such as ponds, rivers, and uncovered wells, to reduce incidents of drowning.
He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property through prompt emergency response, public awareness campaigns, and community collaboration.
