Operatives of the Delta State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Warri have intercepted a Toyota Sienna vehicle allegedly conveying suspected adulterated alcoholic drinks and arrested the 44-year-old driver.
The incident occurred on August 17, 2026, during a stop-and-search operation along the Warri-Agbarho Expressway.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed the development in a statement, saying the vehicle was found carrying quantities of a drink identified as “Gbefun Hot Drink,” which police suspect to be adulterated.
According to the police, further investigation led operatives to a warehouse located at Lower Ginuwa, Warri, where additional quantities of the suspected adulterated drink and other beverages were recovered.
A Suzuki Shuttle bus reportedly loaded with similar products was also found at the warehouse.

However, the suspected operators allegedly fled after sighting the police, while the arrested driver was taken into custody for further investigation.
SP Edafe said efforts were ongoing to apprehend those who escaped and determine the source and distribution network of the suspected adulterated products.
The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their efforts and directed that the investigation be pursued diligently to identify and arrest all persons connected to the case.
The police also appealed to members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information that could assist security agencies in tackling criminal activities in the state.
