The family of a 16-year-old boy, Akinbolaji Timileyin, has appealed for financial assistance to enable him to undergo surgery for a right inguinal hernia.
Timileyin reportedly developed severe abdominal and scrotal pain before he was taken to Oromidayo Medicare Centre for medical attention.
According to medical reports, a scan conducted at Joy Medical Diagnostic Centre, Ijoko, Ogun State, revealed a compressible mass measuring approximately 98mm by 76mm in the right upper section of the pelvic canal.
The finding was considered suggestive of a right inguinal hernia, with medical attention recommended.
The scan also reportedly showed that both testes had smooth outlines, homogeneous echo patterns and normal sizes, with no mass or cyst detected in the right scrotum.
Speaking about her son’s condition, his mother, Akinbolaji Nofisat, said the problem became noticeable after his private part and stomach became swollen.
She explained that the family took him to the hospital, where they were informed that he would require an operation estimated to cost N400,000.

According to Nofisat, the doctors began managing his condition while the family tried to raise the money required for the surgery.
She said the illness initially started with stomach pain, adding that the family had first tried different herbal concoctions before seeking medical attention when the condition persisted.
Nofisat said the family had managed to raise N100,000 but still needed N300,000 to complete the amount required for the operation.
She appealed to members of the public and well-meaning Nigerians to support the family financially, saying lack of funds was currently delaying Timileyin’s surgery.
