Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel and ex-Arsenal winger Freddie Ljungberg have both made their selections for the Premier League PFA Player of the Season award, highlighting standout performers from the ongoing campaign.
Speaking during a discussion with Viaplay, Schmeichel pointed to Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya as his choice for the award. He praised the Spaniard’s consistency and importance to Arsenal’s strong season, insisting the team would struggle without his influence.
“There is one outstanding candidate, and that is Arsenal’s goalkeeper, David Raya. If you take him out of Arsenal, Arsenal are nowhere near that first position they’re in now,” Schmeichel said.

On his part, Ljungberg opted for Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, citing the forward’s ability to deliver crucial goals in key moments of the season.
“I would probably go with Haaland. He has scored really important goals,” Ljungberg stated.
The debate reflects a closely contested Premier League season, with top players from both defensive and attacking positions making strong claims for individual honours as the campaign nears its conclusion.
