
The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged abduction and assault of Ekiti West Local Council Development Area Chairman, Rufus Ige Olorunfemi, and one Funso Ajayi.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu, the incident occurred on June 3, 2026, around 9:00 p.m. along Anoye Street in Ikere-Ekiti. Preliminary findings show that three Hilux vehicles carrying armed men in camouflage uniforms accosted the victims and forced them into their vehicles.
The victims were allegedly taken to the compound of PDP gubernatorial candidate Dr. Wole Oluyede, where they were assaulted before being released.

Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, has ordered a thorough investigation into the case. Three suspects are already in custody, while efforts are ongoing to arrest others who remain at large. Police said all suspects will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
CP Adegoroye called for calm and warned against taking the law into one’s hands or inciting political violence. He pledged that the command would pursue justice without bias and uphold professionalism and respect for citizens’ rights.
