The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with the murder of a traditional ruler in Ishinkwo Community, Onicha Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as Ucha Johnson, Ogobuchi Igwe, Nkpuma Nwankwo, Edwin Onwoshi, Itumo Joseph, and Emmanuel Nwaoba, were apprehended following intelligence-led operations by police operatives. During the raid, officers also recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition.
The victim, HRH Eze Josephat Nnanna Ikegwu, was attacked and killed at his residence on April 2, 2026. The incident sparked tension within the community and surrounding areas.

Commissioner of Police Hope Urunwa Okafor said the command remains committed to ensuring everyone involved in the crime faces justice. She reassured residents that the police will continue efforts to tackle violent crime and strengthen security across Ebonyi State.
The police confirmed that the suspects will be charged in court once investigations are concluded.
