A dispatch rider was killed on Saturday in a multiple road accident involving two trucks at Ijesha, inward Mile 2, Lagos State.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident in a statement signed by its Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu.
According to the agency, the crash involved a FAW truck with registration number T-30364LA, an Iveco truck with registration number KSF 958 XV, and the dispatch rider.
LASEMA said preliminary findings by its Eagle Response Team indicated that reckless driving and wrongful use of the road by both truck drivers led to the accident.
The agency explained that the FAW truck reportedly collided with the Iveco truck while both drivers were allegedly struggling for right of way. The Iveco truck subsequently struck the dispatch rider from behind.
The dispatch rider died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Police officers from the Okota Division evacuated the victim’s remains and deposited them at a morgue for identification and further necessary procedures.

The two trucks were later removed from the main carriageway and parked at a designated layby to prevent further obstruction and restore smooth traffic flow.
LASEMA said its emergency response team, alongside police personnel, successfully concluded the operation and declared the road safe for motorists and other road users.
Oke-Osanyintolu commiserated with the family of the deceased and urged commercial drivers to avoid reckless driving, wrongful overtaking and lane-dragging.
He stressed that road safety remains a collective responsibility and called for strict compliance with traffic regulations to prevent avoidable loss of lives on Lagos roads.
