A woman identified as Joy has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command for allegedly stealing two infants to present at a church dedication. Police say the act followed the death of her newborn twins.
According to the command, Joy deceived two young mothers, aged 14 and 18, and took their babies under false pretenses. She intended to pass the children off as her own during a church ceremony meant for her late twins.
The thefts came to light after an investigation was launched. Joy has since confessed to taking the children. Both infants have been recovered and reunited with their mothers.
