Reality TV star, Cross Okonkwo, has raised concerns over the worsening insecurity in Nigeria, using the occasion of Children’s Day to speak about the condition of children affected by violence and instability across the country.
Cross lamented that while Children’s Day is meant to celebrate innocence and the future of the nation, many children are instead growing up in fear due to kidnapping, violence, and insecurity in several parts of the country.
According to him, “Children are supposed to be happy, safe, and full of dreams, but right now many of them are growing up in fear instead of hope.”
He further stressed that the contrast between children celebrating freely and those unable to go to school or move safely due to insecurity is heartbreaking.

He added, “What if those children are yours? Think about it. How would you feel if it was your own child going through this?”
Cross urged authorities to treat the protection of children as a national priority, insisting that no child deserves to experience trauma or live under constant fear.
He also called on government and security agencies to take stronger and more urgent action, saying that the future of the country depends on how well children are protected today.
His remarks have since sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians agreeing that more needs to be done to ensure the safety and well-being of children nationwide.
