Nigerian entertainer and activist, Charly Boy, has challenged Nigerians to make their votes count in the 2027 general elections, citing the outcome of the United States midterm elections as a reminder of the power of the electorate.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, the entertainer said the US elections had demonstrated that political power ultimately rests with the people, regardless of how strong a politician’s political structure may be.
He noted that the performance of the Democrats in the midterm elections sent a strong message about the direction of the government under President Donald Trump.
Drawing parallels with Nigeria’s political situation, Charly Boy warned that as politicians begin preparations for the 2027 elections, Nigerians should look beyond campaign promises and demand accountability.

He urged voters to question political leaders about their previous promises, improvements in living conditions, job opportunities, security, affordable living and their willingness to take responsibility when things go wrong.
According to him, Nigerians must understand that their votes are not permanent gifts to politicians but a powerful tool for demanding good governance and changing the direction of the country.
He stressed that democracy requires active participation from citizens, adding that elections should not be reduced to political rallies, promises or the distribution of food items.
Charly Boy concluded that the most important question ahead of 2027 should not be who wants political power, but who truly understands the responsibility that comes with being entrusted with it.
