The bandits who kidnapped 15 students of an Islamiya school in Niger State have reportedly demanded over ₦100 million for their release.
The school’s teacher, Malam Aminu Bako, disclosed that the kidnappers contacted village leaders and made the ransom demand.
Bako released the names of the 15 abducted students on Wednesday and appealed to the government to urgently deploy military personnel to rescue them.
He expressed concern that no meaningful rescue operation had been carried out since the incident, apart from efforts by local vigilantes, the school and the victims’ families.

According to him, the acting chairman of Rafi Local Government Area and the Divisional Police Officer were the only government officials who had visited the community.
Bako also revealed that information gathered by local vigilantes suggested that the children were still being held in an isolated building somewhere in Niger State under the guard of heavily armed bandits.
He feared the victims might be suffering without food and insisted that military intervention was necessary to secure their freedom.
