Nigerian winger Philip Otele has been handed a two-match suspension following his red card in a recent Bundesliga clash.
The 27-year-old, who plays for Hamburger SV, was sent off during their North derby defeat against Werder Bremen last weekend.
The incident prompted the club to file an appeal against the referee’s decision, but the protest was ultimately dismissed by the German Football Association.

As a result of the ban, Otele will miss Hamburg’s upcoming league fixtures against TSG Hoffenheim and Eintracht Frankfurt.
Otele only recently joined Hamburg on loan from FC Basel in January and has made a modest impact so far.
In nine Bundesliga appearances, the Nigerian forward has recorded one goal and one assist for the club.
The suspension is a setback for both the player and Hamburg as they continue their campaign in the Bundesliga.
