The Borno State Police Command has arrested two teenagers over the alleged burglary of a provision shop in Maiduguri, recovering ₦430,000 suspected to be part of the stolen proceeds.
The suspects, Hussain Mohammed and Rabiu Yusuf, both aged 17, were arrested by operatives of the State Intelligence Department following credible intelligence, according to the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso.
The shop, located in the Gwange Zuwadawuri area of Maiduguri, was allegedly burgled in the early hours of August 20, 2026. The owner, Mohammed Bello Umar, reported the incident to the police on August 23.
The complainant reportedly told police that about ₦2 million in cash, alongside provisions and other items, were stolen from the shop.

During interrogation, the two suspects allegedly confessed to the offence and mentioned two other suspected accomplices, identified as Kalifa and Pato, who are currently at large.
Police said efforts were ongoing to arrest the two fleeing suspects and recover more of the stolen property.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, ordered a thorough investigation into the case and directed officers to ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.
The Command also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist the police in preventing and investigating criminal activities.
