Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have recovered the body of an unidentified person with an apparent gunshot wound in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The body was discovered at about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2026, around the Farin Lamba axis, close to the Primary Health Centre in Riyom.
According to security sources, troops from Sector 6 responded to a report concerning the discovery and found the corpse with what appeared to be a gunshot injury to the stomach.
However, officers reportedly observed that there were no visible bloodstains or spent ammunition casings around the area where the body was found.
The absence of such evidence has raised suspicion that the deceased may have been killed elsewhere before the body was allegedly dumped at the location.

The corpse was subsequently evacuated to the mortuary at the Primary Health Centre in Riyom.
Security personnel also contacted the youth leader of Tahoss Community to assist with efforts to identify the deceased and establish possible links to the community.
Meanwhile, security personnel have remained in the area as investigations continue to determine the identity of the victim and establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
Authorities have yet to disclose further details about the deceased or identify any suspect in connection with the incident.
