Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists have once again launched a coordinated midnight attack on Benishiekh town, located along the Maiduguri–Damaturu highway in Borno State.
The attack, which reportedly began around 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, has heightened fresh security concerns across the region.
Benishiekh serves as the headquarters of Kaga Local Government Area and has been a strategic location in the fight against insurgency in the North-East.
According to credible local sources, the insurgents appeared to be advancing toward the 29 Task Force Brigade of Operation Hadin Kai, a military formation that was recently targeted in a similar attack.

Meanwhile, residents in Maiduguri reported heightened military activity, as fighter jets and helicopters were seen hovering over the city late into the night.
Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, lies approximately 75 kilometers from Benishiekh.
