The Onigbesi of Igbesi Land, Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, has died days after he was rescued from kidnappers in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The monarch’s death was announced on Saturday by the National President of Omo Ibile Igbomina, Bisi Fakayode, who expressed sadness over the development and prayed for the repose of his soul.
The monarch’s son, Prince Olasunkanmi, also confirmed the incident, saying his father died early Saturday morning after a brief illness.
According to him, the family had taken the monarch to the hospital after his release, hoping he would recover from the ordeal, but he eventually died while receiving treatment.
The Coordinator of the Kwara South Joint Security Watch, Elder Olaitan Oyin Zubair, also mourned the traditional ruler, describing him as a committed son of Igbesi and a respected monarch.

Zubair said the security team that participated in the monarch’s rescue had hoped he would survive, noting that he appeared extremely weak after he was freed.
He further said the group strongly suspected that the monarch’s death could be linked to the trauma he suffered during his abduction.
He expressed condolences to the late monarch’s family, the people of Igbesi and the entire Isin Local Government Area, while praying for strength for the bereaved community.
