The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested 26 suspected criminals and recovered a stolen Toyota Hiace bus valued at about ₦145 million in a series of coordinated operations targeting armed robbery, cultism, fraud, and illegal possession of firearms.
According to the Commissioner of Police of the Bayelsa State Police Command, Iyamah Edebor, the operations were carried out in line with the Inspector-General of Police’s directive on intensified nationwide crime control.
The stolen bus, initially traced to Lagos, was linked to a chain of suspects after the principal suspect was arrested in Warri.
His confession led to the arrest of others involved in its illegal purchase and resale, while a Lagos-based dealer believed to have handled the final transaction is currently at large. The vehicle was eventually recovered through operatives of Operation Puff Adder.
In separate operations, police arrested suspects for attempted armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms, recovering locally made pistols, cartridges, and other dangerous weapons.
