
Armed bandits have attacked Awuma Village on the outskirts of Lafia in Nasarawa State, leaving one person dead and abducting another in a fresh assault that has heightened insecurity concerns in the region.
The attackers reportedly stormed the community on Wednesday night, opening fire indiscriminately and causing panic among residents of the area near Lafia.

During the raid, one resident was killed while another was kidnapped and taken to an unknown destination.
Several residents were said to have fled for safety as the gunmen operated freely before escaping.
Security sources confirmed the incident, stating that investigations have begun and efforts are underway to rescue the abducted victim and track down the perpetrators.
The latest attack has further raised fears over the growing activities of armed groups around rural communities in North-Central Nigeria, particularly areas close to the state capital.
