Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has called on his side to play with “confidence and desire” ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League semi final first leg against Atletico Madrid.
The Gunners travel to the Metropolitano Stadium after a 1-0 win over Newcastle United last weekend. Arteta warned that Diego Simeone’s side will present a major test despite Arsenal’s recent form.
Speaking at Tuesday’s pre match press conference, Arteta praised Atletico’s tactical discipline and European pedigree. He said the Spanish club’s consistency in the competition makes them one of the toughest opponents in Europe.
