The Nigerian Army has rescued Mrs Adonkie, wife of retired Brigadier General Basil Adonkie, following her abduction from her residence in the Federal Capital Territory.
The victim was reportedly kidnapped on September 1, prompting troops of the Guards Brigade and Army Headquarters Garrison to launch a coordinated operation along suspected escape routes.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops advanced through the Aco Estate–Goza Community axis and encountered the suspected kidnappers. The suspects reportedly abandoned Mrs Adonkie and fled into nearby bushes after being confronted by the troops.
She was later rescued at Angwan Sabo Village, while security operatives intensified efforts to track down the fleeing suspects.

In a follow-up operation on September 2, troops intercepted two suspected members of the kidnapping syndicate near Gaube Village in Kuje Area Council.
Security personnel reportedly recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine and 19 rounds of ammunition from the suspects.
The Army said tracking and clearance operations were continuing across the area to apprehend other members of the alleged criminal network. It also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies as efforts continue to strengthen security across the FCT and surrounding communities.
