
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s Operation Hadin Kai have repelled a coordinated attack by Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, reportedly neutralising more than 25 terrorists.
The terrorists reportedly attacked troops of the 101 Special Forces Battalion from four directions. However, the soldiers responded with superior firepower, tactical manoeuvres and coordinated air-ground operations.
According to the Army, 14 bodies have so far been recovered, while surviving terrorists fled the area. Troops also recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition, including six AK-47 rifles.

The military said some soldiers were also killed during the encounter, expressing condolences to their families and commending the troops for their courage and sacrifice.
The Army stated that further operations are ongoing to recover additional weapons, track fleeing terrorists and prevent them from regrouping.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist groups through intelligence-led operations, aggressive patrols and coordinated offensives aimed at protecting communities and safeguarding the nation.
