Troops of the Nigerian Army have discovered and safely destroyed an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The device was reportedly found at about 3:50 pm on September 28 by troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade, Gwoza.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the pressure-plate IED was located about 400 metres away from a road near the troops’ position.

Following the discovery, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was deployed to the area to handle the device.
The team successfully rendered the IED safe before detonating it at the location where it was found.
No casualties were reported in the operation.
The successful disposal of the explosive device prevented a potential threat to the troops and other road users in the area.
