Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully thwarted an attempted kidnapping of farmers by suspected bandits in a community within Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State.
The incident occurred along the Kukata-Kotonkoro Road when soldiers conducting a routine security patrol encountered armed suspects believed to be targeting farmers working on nearby farmlands.
Security sources revealed that the bandits had moved into the area with plans to abduct several farmers. However, the criminals reportedly fled immediately after spotting the approaching troops, abandoning their operation before any victim could be taken away.
