Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a 30-year-old woman, identified as Halima Ibrahim, who was allegedly attempting to flee with two AK-47 rifle magazines in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation conducted by troops of Operation Enduring Peace, in collaboration with vigilantes and local hunters, after the abduction of Dr Abraham Owoicho on August 19, 2026.
According to the Nigerian Army, several occupants of the Kisayi and Dogon Daji settlements fled into the surrounding bush when troops arrived. Ibrahim was, however, apprehended while allegedly attempting to escape with the rifle magazines.
A subsequent search of her residence at Kisayi B Village reportedly led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one locally fabricated revolver, one military jungle hat and three mobile phones.
The Army said preliminary investigations indicated that the recovered AK-47 allegedly belonged to Ibrahim’s husband, identified as Mr Ibrahim.
