An operative of the Agunechemba security outfit in Anambra State has been accused of allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl and offering her family N30,000 to prevent the case from being pursued.
The victim, identified as Ezinne, is from Nkwelle Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area of the state. The alleged incident reportedly happened at Omarima Estate, where she lives with her parents.
In a video shared on X, the girl said she was running an errand for her mother when a security operative allegedly grabbed her and took her into an uncompleted building, where he sexually assaulted her.

She explained that the suspect covered her mouth with his hand when she attempted to scream and threatened to kill her if she reported the incident.
The girl, however, said she could recognise the alleged attacker if she saw him again, although she did not know his name.
An activist who documented the incident was reportedly informed that the operative had offered the victim’s family N30,000 to settle the matter.
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) have reportedly been contacted to investigate the allegation and ensure that the suspect is arrested.
The report also alleged that some members of the Agunechemba security outfit were recently arrested over the alleged rape of two women in Anambra State.
The incident has prompted calls for Governor Chukwuma Soludo to urgently intervene and ensure accountability, with concerns raised over allegations against personnel recruited to protect communities.
Meanwhile, efforts to obtain comments from the Agunechemba Commander and the governor’s Special Adviser on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, were unsuccessful.
The Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, also did not respond to calls and messages seeking the police’s position on the allegation.
