The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 48-year-old woman after she was allegedly found in possession of N12 million in cash during a stop-and-search operation along the Nkpor–Idiani–Abatete Road.
The suspect, identified as Mrs Chinwe Okonkwo, an indigene of Imo State, was reportedly arrested at about 1:24 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, operatives of the Safer Highway team were conducting a routine stop-and-search operation along the road when they intercepted Okonkwo.
During the search, the officers allegedly discovered N12 million in her possession and questioned her about the source of the money.
Makama said the woman was unable to give the officers a satisfactory explanation regarding the origin of the funds.

The recovered cash was subsequently registered as an exhibit by the police.
Following her arrest, Okonkwo was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for further investigation.
The police are expected to investigate the source and intended purpose of the money as authorities continue efforts to monitor suspicious financial activities and maintain security along major roads in the state.
As of the time of the report, no further details had been released regarding possible charges against the suspect.
