He added that several other residents sustained injuries during the attack.
The latest incident has heightened concerns over insecurity in Hong Local Government Area, where communities have experienced repeated attacks in recent months.
A similar attack occurred last month in Zah community, Yadul District, where a forest guard and three other residents were killed, while a woman was abducted.
The council chairman expressed concern over the impact of the attacks on farming activities, saying about 80 per cent of peasant farmers in the affected area had abandoned their farms because of fear.
He assured residents that the local government would continue supporting the military, security agencies, hunters and vigilante groups in efforts to improve security across the area.
