
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has foiled an alleged armed robbery attack on a household in Iton Odoro Village, Ikono Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred on Monday, August 17, 2026, after the police received a distress call about a suspected armed criminal allegedly threatening members of a household.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, police operatives, working with vigilant community members, swiftly mobilised to the scene.
The suspect, identified as Emmanuel Okoyo, was reportedly arrested and disarmed without any casualty.

The police said the suspect had allegedly entered the compound through the back gate while the complainant was at home with his family and threatened them with a locally made single-barrel firearm.
The recovered firearm has been secured by the police as an exhibit, while the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, commended members of the public for providing timely information and praised the operatives for their prompt and professional response.
The Command urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police to help prevent criminal attacks in their communities.
