An Accord Party chieftain, Olalekan Ajagungbade, popularly known as Emir, has been shot dead during a clash over the control of a motor park in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The incident occurred on Sunday at the Mayfair area of Ile-Ife, where Ajagungbade was reportedly attending a meeting with some commercial drivers.
According to a security source, a confrontation broke out between Ajagungbade and his men and a rival group during the meeting, resulting in him being shot in the head.
The incident reportedly triggered further violence in parts of Ile-Ife, while tension also spread to Osogbo, the state capital, where gunshots were reportedly heard in some areas.

Following the development, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, ordered the immediate investigation into the killing and directed the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, to arrest everyone found to be involved.
The governor also ordered security agencies to restore normalcy and directed rival groups to vacate motor parks across the state.
Adeleke said the government would reintroduce the Park Management System to bring discipline and order to motor parks and garages, adding that an Executive Order would be issued to enforce the new system.
He urged residents to remain calm, assuring them that the government would take steps to restore peace in the affected areas.
