The Abia State chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has officially suspended its industrial action after reaching an agreement with the state government through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The strike, which began on March 15, 2026, was called off following negotiations between union leaders and the Abia State Government over lingering welfare and administrative concerns affecting judiciary workers.
JUSUN Chairman in the state, Chinedu Ezeh, alongside the union’s Secretary, Chibueze Nwachukwu, confirmed that the suspension took immediate effect after members ratified the agreement during a congress meeting.

According to the union, the MoU addressed most of the major issues that led to the prolonged industrial action, paving the way for judicial activities to resume across the state.
The union commended Abia State Governor Alex Otti for intervening in the matter and showing commitment toward improving the welfare of judiciary workers.
JUSUN also appreciated residents of Abia State, members of the judiciary, the Nigerian Bar Association, judges, senior lawyers, and other stakeholders for their patience and support throughout the strike period.
The union, however, expressed hope that all agreements contained in the memorandum would be fully implemented to strengthen the judiciary system and improve justice delivery in the state.
