
The wife and son of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Yusuf Alhasan, have regained their freedom after spending several days in captivity following their abduction by suspected bandits.
Their release was disclosed on Wednesday by security analyst and conflict reporter Bakatsine in a post shared on his X account. According to him, the victims were freed after a ransom was reportedly paid to their captors.
Family members expressed gratitude to everyone who offered prayers and support during the difficult period. They also prayed for lasting peace and improved security across Nigeria amid the continued wave of kidnappings affecting several communities.

The victims were abducted on June 22, 2026, when armed men reportedly stormed Alhasan’s residence in the Low-Cost area of Yauri around midnight. The attackers allegedly forced their way into the home before taking the APC chairman’s wife and son to an undisclosed location.
The incident sparked renewed concerns over the persistent insecurity in parts of Kebbi State, where residents have continued to face attacks, kidnappings and other violent crimes.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Kebbi State Government nor security agencies had issued an official statement confirming the victims’ release or providing further details about the operation.
