Two six-year-old twin boys who were abducted in Minna, Niger State, have regained their freedom after spending more than two months in captivity.
The children, Umar and Anas, were reportedly kidnapped from the Brighter area of Minna during the Eid al-Adha celebrations in June 2026. According to earlier reports, the boys were allegedly taken away by the family’s security guard, identified as Sani Abdulrahman.
Their father, a businessman identified simply as Danjuma, became alarmed when he could not find his sons. He later discovered that the security guard had also disappeared.
The suspect was said to have informed members of the household that he was taking the children on a motorcycle ride around town to celebrate the Eid festivities while their father was away.

Sources said the twins have now been released after their captors allegedly received a ransom payment. However, authorities have not officially disclosed the amount paid or the circumstances that led to the children’s release.
The boys have since reunited with their family, although details about their health and condition following their ordeal remain unclear.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over the growing cases of child abduction and kidnapping across parts of the country, with many families calling for stronger security measures to protect children and bring those responsible to justice.
