Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps, have arrested a 29-year-old man, Salaudeen Toheeb, over the alleged rape of a 22-year-old woman in Ota, Ogun State.
The woman, identified as Boluwatife, had reportedly been declared missing by her family before she was found in the suspect’s custody at Olohunda, Ota.
The State Commander of the Corps, Commander Soji Ganzallo, disclosed the arrest in a statement issued on Sunday through the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi.
According to the statement, the arrest followed information received by the Divisional Officer of the Alagbon Division, SC Ibrahim Badru, who was informed on Saturday around 4pm that a man was seen moving around with a woman being searched for by her family.

Operatives were immediately deployed to the area, leading to the arrest of Toheeb and the rescue of the woman.
During preliminary questioning, the suspect allegedly told officers that he met the woman on Thursday evening while riding his motorcycle. He reportedly approached her after she said she was distressed and did not know where to go.
Toheeb allegedly took her to his residence, bought her food and later attempted to have sexual intercourse with her. The woman reportedly resisted the attempt.
The suspect was subsequently alleged to have forced himself on her in the early hours of Friday.
The woman was later reportedly taken out by the suspect while he went to charge his phone. Residents who recognised her allegedly alerted her father, leading to her identification and recovery.
However, the victim’s father reportedly requested that the case be transferred to the police for further investigation. He also raised concerns about five mobile phones and approximately ₦17,000 which his daughter allegedly had with her when she left home.
The suspect and the victim have since been handed over to the Owode-Yewa Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and prosecution.
The So-Safe Corps urged members of the public to promptly report missing persons, suspected abuse, sexual offences and other criminal activities to security authorities.
