The Osun State Police Command has ordered a major crackdown on suspected cult hideouts in Osogbo following renewed violence in the state capital.
The directive was issued by the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, after suspected cultists shot a resident, Rasak Wahab, popularly known as “Ojo Iku,” in the Arowomole area on Sunday.
According to the police, Wahab was immediately taken to an undisclosed hospital and is currently responding to treatment.
The latest shooting occurred just two days after a suspected cult clash in the Owo-Eba area of Osogbo reportedly left two people dead and several others injured.

The police have deployed tactical teams to identified flashpoints, including Oke-Baale, where they are expected to carry out intelligence-led raids and target suspected cult members, criminal hideouts and other locations linked to criminal activities.
The State Criminal Investigation Department has also taken over investigations into the incidents.
The police urged residents to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information and provide credible intelligence that could assist security agencies in preventing further violence.
The command warned cult groups, sponsors and sympathisers that it would not allow anyone involved in cult-related violence or other criminal activities to operate freely in the state.
