The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, Habibu Bello, who is suspected of belonging to a kidnapping and cattle-rustling syndicate operating across Kano, Kaduna and Katsina states.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said Bello was arrested on September 14, 2026, by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad following credible intelligence.
According to the police, Bello, a resident of Kunkumi Town in Kaduna State, was allegedly involved in several kidnapping, armed robbery and cattle-rustling operations across the three states.
Police said further investigation led to the arrest of another suspected member of the syndicate, identified as Mudam from Kwanar Dangora.

The command alleged that Bello confessed to several kidnapping incidents, including the abduction of Hajiya Binta from Kwanar Dangora, for which a ransom of ₦20 million was reportedly paid. He was also allegedly linked to the kidnapping of a household in Gwarzo Local Government Area and cattle rustling activities.
Meanwhile, police operatives reportedly recovered a Cine-Camera Drone during a separate clearance operation in Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State.
The drone, marked GT 50, was found at Hawan Tarau village on September 17, while efforts are ongoing to establish its source and owner.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the operatives and assured that clearance operations would continue in collaboration with neighbouring police commands.
