A tragic road accident along the Kaduna–Kachia Road in Kaduna State has claimed the lives of 12 people, while two others sustained serious injuries.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that the crash occurred at Doka Village in Southern Kaduna and involved two Volkswagen Golf cars carrying 14 passengers.
According to the FRSC Sector Commander in Kaduna, Andrew Paul Longkam, the passengers comprised eight males and six females. All eight males and four females died in the crash, while two females survived with injuries.

The accident was reportedly linked to a tyre burst. The FRSC also disclosed that none of the occupants, including the two drivers, was wearing a seat belt or using any protective device at the time of the crash.
The two injured survivors were evacuated to Rapha Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at Idon General Hospital pending identification and contact with their relatives.
The tragic incident has renewed concerns about road safety, overloading and the importance of using seat belts while travelling.
