Authorities in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State have recovered the body of a young woman allegedly killed in Ogoda community, with two suspects now in police custody.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was reportedly abducted from Ahoada East and taken to Ogoda, where she was allegedly murdered.
The traditional ruler of Ogoda, Chief Obutu Tom, said he received information on September 12 that five young men had allegedly abducted a woman and taken her to the community.
He subsequently reported the matter to the police after making preliminary inquiries.
Following the discovery, the Chairman of Ahoada West LGA, Eugene Epelle, led council officials and security personnel, including the police and Joint Task Force, to the area. The victim’s body was later recovered from a stream.

Epelle confirmed that two suspects had been arrested and were assisting the police with investigations.
The council chairman vowed that anyone found responsible would face the law, adding that he would follow up the case to ensure that justice is served.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death is ongoing.
