Four suspected illegal miners have been killed after gunmen opened fire on their vehicle in Ganna Ropp, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 3:38am on Sunday, September 20, 2026, as troops of Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace, responded to a report of a shooting involving an Opel vehicle.
Upon arriving at the scene, the troops found that all four occupants of the vehicle had been shot dead.

The victims were reportedly returning from a mining site in the Ganna Ropp area when unidentified gunmen attacked their vehicle.
Two of the victims were identified as the driver, Mallam Sadam, and a man identified as Umar. The identities of the other two victims had not been established.
Personnel from the Keystone Outpost in Ganna Ropp evacuated the bodies from the scene for further action.
Security forces have since launched a manhunt for the attackers and commenced operations in the area to identify and apprehend those responsible.
