Gunmen have reportedly killed and beheaded the village head of Lafagu community in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The incident occurred on Sunday, according to the Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, who confirmed that the traditional ruler was killed.
The police spokesperson said some suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident, adding that further details would be released as investigations continue.

However, reports from the area suggest that the killing may be linked to an armed ethnic militia rather than bandits or Lakurawa insurgents.
The development has reportedly heightened tension in Lafagu and neighbouring communities, where longstanding tensions among Fulani, Kambarawa and Bargawa communities have reportedly worsened amid allegations of cattle rustling, kidnapping and attacks.
Residents have called for urgent government intervention to prevent the situation from escalating into further communal violence.
