
Suspected bandits have killed the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rantan Ward, Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Garba Buba, along with another resident.
The attack reportedly occurred on Sunday night when armed men invaded Rantan community and opened fire on residents.
Sources in the community said Buba sustained gunshot injuries during the attack and was rushed to a hospital, where he later died while receiving treatment.
Another resident, identified as Sulaiman Zunduma, was also killed during the incident, while a third victim, Alhaji Sa’adu, was reportedly shot by the attackers.
A resident said the gunmen struck the community late Sunday, leaving residents in fear and confusion.
A family member, Hafsat Garba Rantan, also confirmed the death of the APC ward chairman, describing him as her paternal uncle.

The incident came shortly after another attack in Chiromawa community in Garun Malam Local Government Area, where gunmen reportedly abducted the Sarkin Noman Jihar Kano, Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo Chiromawa.
Three people were also said to have been killed during that attack, which reportedly took place at about 11 p.m. on Saturday.
Several communities in Kano North, particularly those close to the borders with Katsina and Zamfara states, have recently witnessed repeated attacks by armed groups, heightening fears among residents.
